This set will transform your morning shave into an experience you look forward to. You’ll have all the hardware you need to start wet shaving.

Shaving with a DE razor and brush is superior because of the quality blades and the process of preparing your face. With just a little practice, you’ll have a irritation free shave that’s closer than you’ve ever experienced with a multi-blade cartridge razor.

Pure Badger Brush
This brush builds a great lather, and feels great on your face. The best brushes are made of Badger hair because like human hair, it absorbs water.  The water releases gradually, making a rich lather.

Our brush is made with hand tied, genuine badger hair. Easy break-in instructions are included.

Double Edge Razor
The TTO razor is a comfortable shaver, and holds a blade perfectly. Most would consider this a mild to moderate shaver; it’s forgiving and perfect for beginners.

Razors from the early 1900’s are still in use today, and this one will last just as long.

Chrome Stand
Shave brushes should be stored with the bristles down so they can dry properly. This heavy duty stand looks great, and stores your brush and razor safely. It will hold most DE razors, and a 24mm brush knot.

The travel case has room for a 5 pack of blades.

Makes a Great Gift
This kit is a great buy for a man in your life who is hard to buy for. Whether its your husband, boyfriend, father or son, this kit will introduce him to a better shaving experience. Buy it for Valentines Day, Fathers Day, Graduation, Christmas or a Birthday!

Not bad beginner set but a little over priced. Really like how chubby the shaving brush is but the safety razor was a little on the cheap side. Stand was okay for a quick fix. Over all I am satisfied with this product for a beginner.

This is the second shave kit I have purchased. I absolutely lov the kit. It is missing a soap bowl, but they are cheap and easy to find. The kit only comes with one razor, highly recommend purchasing additional razors. The one that comes with the kit is not the best, but standard safety razors fit and work very well.

I bought this shaving kit to try out wet shaving, because I wasn't sure if I'd like it. While I do enjoy shaving with this set very much, the quality of some items leaves much to be desired.

The razor works quite well for me, and I really like the butterfly opening which makes changing blades a breeze. I can't really compare its shaving performance to other razors because this is my first and the only one I've used so far. My biggest complaint is that some of the finish is flaking off of the handle within a few months of use. The quality is definitely lacking for long term use. I will probably keep it as a travel razor, but it's becoming too damaged for everyday use.

The brush is quite nice, and I've found it to be very pleasant to use. I've never had a problem building up a nice lather with it. Unfortunately, after a few months use it has begun shedding quite a bit. It started with the expected 1-2 hairs per shave, but has now accelerated to 10-20 hairs per shave. I'm planning on replacing it soon with a better quality brush.

The stand is probably the best quality of the entire kit, as other reviewers have indicated. I really enjoy the way it looks, and I plan to continue using it after I replace the razor and brush with better quality items.

All in all, I purchased this kit because I wasn't sure if I would enjoy wet shaving. I didn't want to spend too much money up front only to find out wet shaving wasn't for me. If you are in the same situation, I would recommend this product, but don't expect long term usage from the razor or brush. If you are already wet shaving, save your money and buy a better quality product.

For the price I am extremely pleased with this product.
The razor is nice, and although I've since bought a classic Gillette adjustable I like more, I still get a nice comfortable shave from this razor.
The brush is decent, it sheds some and is a little scratchier than my ideal brush but it does work great on hard soaps and the wife likes just fine for her uses (legs, armpits, etc which are less sensitive than the face). But to be fair most nicer badger brushes START at more than this entire kit combined!

The travel case broke almost instantly (plastic glass piece fell out). Brush and Stand are nice but nothing really special. The best part of this whole setup IMO is the DE razor. The blade isn't that great but I have a bunch of Astra Blades I like so that really wasn't an issue. Overall I felt pretty average about this product, great for someone who is looking to dabble/try out the DE razor process.

I do not recommend the kit. The razor I received was broken and unusable it was also cheaply made, and in my opinion not worth the price.

  16. 2 out of 5

I can not recommend the kit for a beginner because the razor and blade that comes with the kit killed my face and almost halted my switch to safety razors. The stand and brush are actually very good. Warning about the brush; it has an odor that will turn people off, but it comes with instructions on how to remove the odor. It took several cleanings and a couple uses to remove completely, but the brush broke in great. After the odor and some shedding the brush is where it should be. Stand is solid and is nicely balanced. Those two things get it two stars. I cannot give it more because it is a shaving kit and I could not use the razor to shave without hurting myself. I really tried and thought it was me or the blades, but once I bought the Merkur 34c HD and realized it was the razor and not me or the blades.

Great Starter kit! if you have never used a safety blade before make sure to do your research first! if you try to shave the same as you do with a multi blade razor you will end up with a painful bloody mess.

This kit comes with what you need for a great, close shave, and includes a travel case for your safety razor and a new blade. No shaving soap or cream, but better that you pick out your preference on those anyway.
The safety razor, brush, and holder are all well-built. I don't think I'll need to buy another for years to come.

I've only shaved twice with it, and I'll come back to amend this if my opinion changes. So far, I like it a lot. The brush is excellent and the razor produces that satisfying feeling of a really good shave.

The stand looks handsome and is functional. The brush has shed a bit, but is holding up alright. The blade is easy for beginners. It doesn't clog easily and is comfortable in the hand.
Reason for no five star is the handle itself is a bit too light for me. I find myself having to apply light pressure rather than letting the weight of the razor do the work for me.
Most wet shavers will upgrade from this set up, but it's great for beginners or for a travel set.

    Okay, where to start?

The razor. I can't say too much here. It worked for a week before the mechanism to open the head got jammed, rendering the blade unchangeable. Now I have to either get it replaced or buy a new one separately. It isn't very aggressive, which is good for beginners like me who just switched from cartridge razors. Switching blades is easy if yours doesn't jam entirely. The razor is, okay at best. Beginner shave for sure.

The Badger brush. Well I can't say too much for it. It does the job of working up the lather, and rinses fairly well, but takes a long time to fully dry. I may buy a 2nd one separate. Not too sure yet.

The holder for the razor and badger brush is great, probably the best item in this bundle.

My gripe is the missing items especially. You need a good shaving bowl and shaving soap to really get off the ground running. I bought Colonel Conks separately, which is an okay at best shave soap. But the lack of these items should bring the price down.

All in all, this is an okay set for beginners but no be-all end-all. I either need to have my razor replaced or buy a new one, and I hear Merkur DE razors are a good option. I will consider these. I feel like I should have bought all these items separately. It isn't a cheap endeavor to switch from cartridge razor to 'wet' shaving, but I am assured it will be far worth it in the long run. Take my review with a grain of salt. You may have differing results.

I bought this for my husband, as he wanted to get a better, closer shave with softer skin. This kit is a WONDERFUL addition to our bathroom. He gets a superclose shave with less irritation, I get a prettier bathroom without any fuss. My only regret is that we didn't buy this sooner. I know that once my sons are old enough to shave, we'll be buying them their own sets as well.

Brush is of high quality but the razor.....not so much. Perhaps it is because this is my first of this kind of razor and I need more practice. I don't know. I either cut the heck out of my face or end up shaving 2-3 times. If I get better with time I will report back. P.S. Everything is solidly built.

I confess. I bought this for myself and not my husband. I am always trying to find ways to be more Eco-friendly when it comes to everyday items, so I figured I would try this out instead of the plastic razors that we toss away. This kit has been perfect. It is easy to load the handle has a good weight to it, I love that it came with a stand and a carrying case for travel.

I am new to the traditional way of shaving via brush and DE razor so I don't have enough experience to compare this to other products. However, there are a few useful observations I've made for other beginners to the DE tradition.

    Pro's:
    - Badger brush seems quite decent, although it is 100% pure grade so it is probably on the coarser side than higher grades. I like it though, it helps to leave it in a warm bowl as one showers so that the water soaks in.

    - Stainless steel stand has a nice minimalist aesthetic to it and will hold a variety of razors (and I think brushes too, but I haven't tested it).

    - The travel razor kit could definitely come in handy in the future for trips.

    Cons:
    - The razor is very light and very aggressive. No matter how slow and careful I was, by the 2nd time around with the razor I was getting nicks like crazy and finally my neck broke out in pretty bad razor burn the last time I used it. I'm not sure if it is the angle of the razor, the amount of exposed blade, or other factors, but this razor did not work out for me (though your experience may differ, especially if you're used to DE shaving). I also used Derby blades which are known to be a less aggressive blade, but the razor itself was just too aggressive and light.

If you're a DE beginner (and even if you aren't), I switched to a Merkur 34C heavy classic razor and my shaving experience has been HUGELY improved. If you don't have any DE shaving accessories and want to get your foot in the door, I think this is a decent start. Just be aware that you may have a difficult early experience if you use this razor so you may want to invest in a less aggressive razor when starting out.

Overall, I give this 3 1/2 stars so I'll round to 4. One point off for the aggressive razor and half a point off because this set could probably be about $10 cheaper.

I like this razor, and it did a great job but the first time I used the brush the head popped off, 'and it will not go back together. I was hoping with such high reviews for a higher quality kit.

(Edit) I received great customer service from the seller and everything was resolved very quickly!

My boyfriend used to hate shaving. He has really sensitive skin and regular razors would give him horrible razor burn. I found out about wet shaving and bought him this kit, along with some Taylor of Old Bond Street aftershave. Now he loves shaving! The brush is such good quality and he loves how close of a shave the razor gives him. Definitely a fan.

this is a great mild/basic shave set. I like the stand for it holds the product good. The brush is a good little brush and lathers pretty good.the brush is a great size to travel with as well not too big or too small. Now for the razor! It's a very mild shave for me! I've used it several times with many different blades and too me it's still a very mild razor! This would be a great starter set for somebody! I received this item at a discounted rate for my honest and unbiased review.

I really only wanted the stand and brush. The stand is much more attractive than the other two-sided-fork-on-a-post designs that are so common. The DE razor itself I don't need. Wish they sold just the stand and brush, or separates.

So far so good. There is a small amount of rust in the chrome base for the razor. Otherwise, the razor handle has a good weight and still holding up after a month of use. The badger hair brush took a few shaves and washes to get rid of the smell, but holds water and lathers very well. I haven't needed to use the traveling case so far, but I like how the chrome holder looks. The razor blade that's included wasn't the best, but served its purpose for a few shaves.

Great starter kit. Wasn't sure I was going to like shaving with a DE razor. So I tried this out. I love it. Brush is very nice and didn't smell bad at all. Feels great and isn't shedding hairs like some other brushes I've looked at. Razor is decent quality for the price. Would definitely recommend getting a blade sampler at the same time.

My husband has been wanting to wet shave for a long time now. This is a great starter set. I bought this for my husband's birthday but have since used it myself. Upon opening it was packaged very nicely. The case was a really nice touch. The razor fit inside perfectly. I liked how it had a slot for additional blades. So if you are traveling it all packs away in one small case. The bush was a lot softer than I expected. It is a nice quality badger hair. The hairs did not fall out. I do wish the knot was a little bigger. The stand is a very nice way to display your set and to let your brush dry out. It is nice and sturdy. You do not have to worry about your razor or brush tipping over. The razor itself is light weight. It is a good beginner razor. Not one that would be passed down through the generations. I really liked how easy it was to open and close. Makes adding a new blade a breeze. Was not a fan of the blade that came with this Razor. I felt that it pulled the hair instead of cutting it. After changing the blade out it worked great. It provided a great pass and a smooth shave. I did notice when I was shaving my legs the handle got a little slippery so I was extra careful not to cut myself. Overall a good quality set for the price. I received this product at a discount for my honest review.

I bought this after reading a book promoting safety razor shaving as more economical and environmentally friendly than disposable razors. The razors themselves last a week and cost less than a dollar each. The shaving foam I use (not part of this set) is apparently more environmentally friendly than foam in a can due to the natural ingredients. Recommend this set both for yourself and if you are looking for a manly present for a friend/husband. Shaves as close as a multiple blade disposable. Bonus is that my wife hasn't borrowed this razor for her legs without telling me yet.

I got away from the safety razor with the advent of the multi-blade disposal razor. There is nothing like the shave of a safety razor. And this is the fourth of the brushes I have used over the last forty-five years of wet shaving, and the first badger brush I have owned (my previous brushes have been boar bristles). And the stand is a convenience I have never enjoyed. While this kit is probably not the quality of higher priced items, I am by no means unhappy with it. I recommend it for personal use, or as a gift.

Awesome kit, some folks complain of the smell of badger hair initially but I have no complaints. I recently switched from cartridge razors and absolutely love using a safety razor. I have sensitive skin when it comes to shaving; did a lot of reading prior to purchasing a razor, key is to go slowly and lightly. First shave was fantastic, actually enjoy shaving now. Plus, its less than 10 cents a shave which I figured would save me close to 200 bucks a year. Razor is sturdy, good value for the buck

Why buy a safety razor? Is it the better shave? Blades that cost as low as $0.10 a replacement? A shave that is closer with less irritation? The meditative benefits? Reduce your environmental impact? Or, with the right blade, do you long for the ability to tear down days old stubble in a breeze? These are the many reasons why a safety razor is far superior to any disposable or multi-blade cartridge razor. Plus, you have the opportunity to take part in an art form that has been around for over 100 years and you can find out what your face is really supposed to feel like after a good shave!

This is an excellent set to get you started in the safety razor world or buy it for the extra accessories (like I did) to enhance your current collection! It is very nicely packaged and would also make an excellent gift. This set comes with a 100% pure badger brush, a pretty decent safety razor, an awesome travel case, one sample blade, and a beautiful chrome stand that keeps your razor contained and actually allows you to hang your brush upside-down like it is meant to be stored! If you are used to a more expensive popular-brand name safety razor, you will probably notice that this one isn't going to be quite as nice, but it also doesn't come with the hefty price tag, either. And more importantly, it still does what it is supposed to and will far out-shine any cartridge razor that you own! The badger hair brush appears to be very well made, and so far, no hairs have fallen out during the week that my husband has been using it. The brush works wonderfully to lift the hair follicles so you get a much smoother shave. I actually purchased this kit so my husband could have a good safety razor to travel with and I am very happy with the travel case! I can't tell you how many times both my husband and myself have caught the edge of his razor when it was packed in our bag during vacation! The razor fits into the case perfectly and there is no more worries about reaching into a bag and coming out with a cut! If you do buy this kit, I would recommend pitching the sample blade that it comes with. My husband found that it pulled the hair rather than cutting, but when he switched to one of his other blades, this razor performed about 90% as well as his Merkur! I purchased this kit at a discount during a limited promotional period in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I would recommend this set to anyone who wants to dip their toe into the world of safety razors. Chances are, you'll never go back!

I bought this for my son because I liked the vintage feel of it. It reminds me of the set my dad had when i was young. My son uses a straight razor and said he had been thinking of switching to a double edge razor but I didn't know that when I bought it. When everything was taken out of the box he immediately knew the brush was badger hair and checked to see if it came with a razor blade which it did. The traveling case was a hit as well. He said he would give the razor a try and if he liked it he would switch. He had only used it it for two days when he told me he was going to switch from his straight razor to this one. He also said the brush was better than most but didn't hold a lot of lather. The bottom of the handle turns easily so when the top is completely open the blade slides right in or out. Thank you so much for allowing me to purchase this at a discount for an honest opinion. It is a great starter razor for someone new to double edge blades. It looks great on the bathroom counter and the touch of nostalgia reminds me of my dad.

The wife saw me get this in for review and decided to take it. We have been fighting back and forth using it and I may have to actually order a second one because of how well it performs, so lets get into a brief review.

I can't say enough about this safety razor. The MAIN reason to get one of these is LONG TERM COST SAVINGS! You literally buy this and then a pack of 100 blade replacements is under $15! YEAH 100 BLADES UNDER $15!

I have never had a closer shave on my face, the first few times I did cut myself because I was going WAY TOO FAST. This is not for fast shavers, this is designed for SLOW meaningful strokes. You MUST use a good cream, with lots and LOTS of lather, hence why the brush is included. My setup goes something like this.. A glass bowl filled with a high quality creme and then I whip it with the brush into this super thick foamy delight. Put a good amount on the area you wish to shave and then GO SLOW! If you don't you WILL rip your face off.

    So, heres the wifes experience;

I told her to do the steps I did above, she didn't listen, Guess what? SHE TORE UNDER HER ARMS ALL UP THE FIRST TIME! Once that healed up she tried again going slow like I told her to do and she's super impressed. I was annoyed to hell with her spending $20 a month on razors so I am beyond pleased she learned how to use this! She's even used it on her bikini area and the shave is so close to the skin it feels baby smooth (I enjoy this...haha)

It's so freaking durable! I've dropped this razor on the bathroom tile on several occasions. No dents or dings on the razor. This thing could easily last YEARS with proper care. DO NOT LEAVE THIS IN THE SHOWER! When you are done rinse it off and put it back in the holder to let ALL the water run off. DO NOT lay this flat.

All in all this is a GREAT starter kit. You can then pick up a huge quantity of refill blades at a really reasonable price. She changes the blade ONCE a week. You can get 2 years of shaving (weekly) changes for almost the same cost of a Gillette vibrating razor. You don't need all those moisture strips or 5 blade crap. One blade does the trick just use HIGH QUALITY shaving cream.

my husband loves this set! his skin doesnt break out with the sandlewood shaving soap and double edge razor like it did before with other creams and razors!!! he gets multiple shaves on these blades where before one razor would only last one shave

This safety razor kit has everything needed to get for a beginner to get started shaving, except for soap.

The centerpiece is a butterfly safety razor with chrome plating made by Ming Shi. The handle is not knurled, but has ridges that are easy to grip. The mechanism works well and holds the blade securely. The head is flat and easy to manipulate.

The brush has a thick head of badger bristles, stiff enough to produce a good lather, but with soft tips and a gently curving dome. Pure badger bristle does a much better job than synthetic or boar bristles, but is not nearly as expensive or fussy as the more expensive silvertip badger bristles.

The chrome-plated stand is hand-welded and has a classic modern design that is very functional.

The travel case is sturdy plastic and has a mirror in the lid.

A single double-edged bladed is included.

Mid Century Shaving provided a kit for evaluation and review.

Here's an entry-level beginner's DES (Double Edge Safety) set. It looks exactly like the Amazon photo. Like most razors now, it's made in China.
Mine arrived in a plain white cardboard packing box, which can always be gift wrapped but is not by itself what I would call a 'gift box'.

I was offered a sample for testing and impartial consumer review. After using it, here's what I think:

The contents are a Brush, a chrome metal Stand, a brightly polished chrome finish Razor, one Blade, and a small blue plastic travel box which holds the razor and any number of blade packs, but is not large enough to accommodate the brush, so you'll need to pack the brush separately.
This does not include any soap, or any soap bowl for lathering up, so you'll need to buy those separately (although it may be more fun to improvise a bowl out of an old coffee mug, etc)
This also comes with only 1 single razor blade, so you'll need to buy more blades almost immediately. These DES blades are available in multi-packs very inexpensively almost everywhere-- all the chain drug stores, Wal-mart, etc. Most shavers eventually find a 'favorite' make and model blade based on their own beard type, skin texture, etc, and part of the fun is trying out various brands.

As a starter kit, the 4 individual components are OK and they all certainly work, but they're each only 'beginners' level" quality.
The brush is a little smaller than I like, and the handle appears to be black plastic.
The stand does its job, and takes up a comparatively small footprint, but it's fairly light and a little too easy to tip over accidentally.
The razor is fine, but the handle is very smooth and can become slippery when wet, and I like more traction than the slick handle offers. Better traction and grip means better control and less chance of an accidental cut.
The razor drops down into a closed ring loop on the stand, so you need to be mindful about not grasping the razor by the razor edges when retrieving it for use.

I've been DES shaving for a long time. I started out with my Dad's old Gillette brass GI-issue razor from WW2 many years ago, so I'm really not the intended target market for this entry-level set. So if you are shopping for a special gift for someone who's already an experienced DES shaver, this beginner's set will probably not excite them.

When first unpacking the box, I accidentally dropped the plastic 'travel box' and the plastic inset window went flying, in two pieces, across the room. These generic cases are included with a lot of Chinese made razors, and they seem prone to cracking and breaking if dropped, or subjected to too much pressure in a travel bag.

Here on Amazon, this set from Mid Century Man is competing directly with the bestselling shaving-set products from established brands like WEISHI, which offers a wide variety of good quality 3-piece and 4-piece shaving sets for all experience levels, from beginner to advanced.
It's also easy and inexpensive to assemble your own brush-razor-stand set on your own; all three components can be had at low prices.

Summary: As a beginner's set I can give this 4 Stars, but not 5 Stars. The slick slippery handle is not what I would choose for any beginning shaver, and frankly there are other starter sets I would choose instead.
With a better handle and a slightly better weighted stand, this could be upgraded to a 5 Star set, and I would recommend the seller consider those changes.

I hope this is helpful as you comparison shop online. Happy shaving, everybody.

I love this shaving kit. I have not had a shave this close in years. The brush and razor both work great. the stand is heavy and looks very nice on counter top. The brush had no bad odor and did not lose 1 hair since I started using it about 2 weeks ago. great buy.

Razor did not make it a year. I went to replace the blade and the head snapped in half. I should have been tipped off regarding the cheap nature of the razor and stand when rust appeared within the first two months. The problems continued when the mechanism started to become difficult to operate. The metal plating on the razor itself started to flake and chip off. The brush is of such low quality that I only used it twice before switching to another I already owned. The travel case is nice. Overall, I cannot recommend this product for purchase. I think the old saying is true here...you get what you pay for. And for $30, what you get is a poor quality set.

When the product arrived, I realized the safety razor was a Chinese brand called Ming Shi. I used the whole kit with my C.O. Bigelow shaving cream out of the tube. The brush gave me the most even coat of shaving cream. The razor was well-made and gave me an incredibly close shave. At no point did I come close to nicking myself. This is my travel razor now thanks to the cool traveling case. I am looking forward to the many enjoyably close shaves with it.

I'm very pleased with my purchase. The stand is heavy and sturdy. The razor reminds me of the one my dad used. It is rugged and offers a firm grip. The razor required no pressing and offered a great shave. It seems solidly built and should last a long time. The badger brush did have a smell at first but following the instructions on how to prep it, the smell is diminishing. It works up a good lather and applies the soap in a good manner. I would recommend this kit as a gift for any man who wants to do some old school grooming.

The double edge razor and stand are great! I love both of them. The 100% badge brush is not so great. The brush has two major knots in the center of the brush. I thought that after flowing the pre-first use instructions of washing the brush it would clear things out, but it did not. I have used the brush twice now, and it's just not up to par.

Very nice kit here, Razor is very well put together and a very smooth shaver. I have used it 4 times now and achieved BBS every time. The brush is soft and builds a great lather. Stand also adds a nice touch and a great way to display everything. Bottom line, I would definitely buy this again!

I've been wet shaving for about a year now, mostly with vintage Gillette razors. I was asked if I would review this razor and was pleasantly surpised by it's performance. First impression when I opened the box was that the razor is very light in weight, seems to made of a fairly thin metal and to be honest I wasn't too impressed with it's construction. It opens and closes smoothly enough but after a couple of shaves with it it developed a bit of a squeak when opened and closed, almost as if it had some interior corrosion or something. The first shave with it was with the supplied blade and again.... I was not impressed, I got a halfway respectable shave with it but by the end of the second pass it seemed to be tugging a bit. I doubt the blade would be good for more than two shaves if that. The second shave was with a Gillette Silver/Blue blade (one of my favorites) and went much better, I got a very nice two pass shave with only one slight weeper which I'm attributing to the lightness of the razor. I think i felt I needed to apply a little more pressure to than normal to make of for the lack of weight. All in all the razor is perfectly servicable and you can expect to get a decent shave with it.
The brush that comes with this set is without a doubt pure badger! It had the familiar stench of badger when first used. Even more so than any other badger hair razor I've owned. I know some brush manufacturers wash their pelts before making them into brushes, I don't think this is the case with this brush. However that's a problem that is easily solved. I just shampooed it a couple of times and then lathered it really well with my favorite shaving soap then let the soap dry on the brush over night and rinsed it out the next day....much better! The brush is very soft and lacks a lot of backbone but I'm a bowl latherer so that wasn't too much of an issue. If you face lather you may want a stiffer/ more dense brush. The handle is nothing to write home about, it's a lightweight smooth plastic but is pretty comfortable to use.
As far as the stand goes, i have to admit I was pretty impressed by it. It's well made, pretty heavy gauge steel that had a flawless chrome finish on it. Pretty compact and doesn't take up a lot of room on the vanity top. I like it!
The case that that is included is a pretty cheap thin plastic thing but does hold the razor well and does have a space dedicated to store some blades in. Would be perfectly serviceable as a travel case i think.
In conclusion I'd say this set would make a fine travel set since it's lightweight and holds the razor and blades securely (just a tip: don't put blades in it if you're planning on carrying it in a travel on bag. They won't make it through security at the airport). I wish the razor had a little more heft to it, it just felt pretty cheap to me, but it gave me a decent shave and thats what it was designed to do. It'll probably become my travel set I'm thinking.

My overall review of this product is that it's worth it to purchase for a beginner. It is fairly priced for a decent first double edged shave set and won't break the bank and delivers favorable, decent performance and results. It is by no means a high end kit, but even an experienced or casual shaver will notice that this shave set well holds its own for the performance vs price factor of other kits priced in the same performance range. The razor is a bit light in weight, but performs well. I added some WD-40 to the screw mechanism to increase the performance, nothing wrong with the razor itself, just something personal I did. It is not a Gillette Super Speed or a Merkur, but is a decent razor for the beginner or novice. It open's and closes fine and the blade seats nicely in the head and is even with the comb guard. The brush is excellent for a bowl lather and does its job with better results than I expected. I had to wash it several times to remove some of the smell, but it performed just fine after that. If you face lather or direct lather, you may want something a bit stiffer, but I was pleased. The stand is sturdy, shines nice and counters the weight of the brush. The stand was well constructed and holds it's own just fine. The travel case isn't anything special, but is a nice touch and handy if you were to travel or even if just to store it. Theres even some room for a few blades.

I used this kit over a weeks time and found it to deliver a decent shave. I used several different soaps, creams and blades to come to this conclusion, and for the most part, all delivered a close comfortable shave with this razor. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience.

This product gets the job done. It isn't very flashy, it doesn't give the best shave I have ever gotten, but it definitely does what it needs too.

As with all things regarding shaving, everything can vary from person to person, something I loved you may hate, something I hate may be awesome for you. Shaving is very personal and everyone gets different results.

The TL;DR version of it all is that it can be a great kit for anyone, its a great travel kit. Could work as a starter as well. All around decent. I will be holding onto as my travel kit for the future.

The stand - for me this was the best part of the entire kit, its a great stand, stainless steel, great look, and nice and compact to save space on my shelf. Stand gets 5/5 for me.

The brush - This brush was a lot softer than I expected for the price. It was a nice quality badger hair and worked well. The only downside was the knot is not very dense. There is not a lot of hairs packed into it, so for me it seems very "floppy", I face lather, which results in the brush splaying out and because of its density it sort of just stays splayed, and then flops around. Could be great for someone who bowl lathers though, still better than a lot of store bought starter kit brushes I have gotten before that are denser but so stiff and harsh that they just destroy your face and leave it red and sore. So I see it as a good starter brush, but for me just not as good as some of my other mid range quality brushes. It also had a tendency to tangle in the center which I have not seen before, resulted in some suds stuck in there, but was able to clear by combing it out, lost a few hairs but better than soap buildup in my opinion. Brush gets 2/5 for me.

Razor - Razor was not bad, as I said it got the job done. It was a nice twist to open and the cap has a sort of wavy edge to it. The cut angle was a lot wider than my other razors and there was a bit of blade exposure. Overall to me it seemed to be very aggressive, more so than I usually like. I did not use the blade it came with as I wanted to give it an even review with a blade I have used before and know. The razor is aggressive enough that I do not think I would recommend it for a beginner, the tendency of beginners to use pressure combined with the aggressiveness seem like it would result in a bloody shave, with good form though it seemed like a great razor, but through the hair quickly and could give me a close shave in just 2 passes. Great for travel if you are in a hurry, and need to shave quick. The metal seemed a little flimsy, but still sturdy enough to do what it needs to, but I wouldn't expect it to be a generational razor to pass down to kids and grand kids, definitely will have a lifespan of only a few years to it. I also wish it was a little heavier, but that could be because I am used to my massive handle on my MR8. Razor for me gets 3/5.

Case - Case was good, fits razor perfectly, grooves for a stack of like 5 razors below the razor, and enough rooms on the side for me to fit my sample size aftershaves from Fine. Makes the set come together as a perfect travel kit in my taste, only thing that could make it more perfect was if the brush was synthetic, then it would be perfect for travel. Case gets a 4/5 for me.

Overall - 3/5 great travel kit, could be a decent starter kit as well, but could go well in anyone's den as a travel kit for the vacations or business trips. I will definitely be keeping it for this reason, but that's all it will be, a travel kit. I don't see it making it into my regular rotation, but its something I am glad I own.

For a beginner's razor it is well built. a little on the lite side for me but still shaves well. The badger brush lathers well didn't lose many bristles so far like other brushes in the beginning of use. Really like the chrome stand way better than the cheap plastic one I had.. all in all for the money and quality of the set this one's your best bet. I plan on keeping this set in my rotation with the rest of my razors..

Great set for the beginner or experienced shaver. The razor, brush and stand are quality products, which should last a long time. The brush has thick, soft badger hair and retains water well - it easily performs as well my higher priced badger brushes. The TTO razor is on the mild side and shaves very well. The included case, will make it easy for me to take this razor on trips. The chrome stand completes this awesome set. Well worth the asking price.

Great value for a starter. The stand is of superb quality and design, I enjoy using the Badger Brush. Regarding the DE it is built well, I wish it was on the heavier side but it definitely does the job. If you are new to wetshaving and want to get your feet wet without investing too much, this kit is most definitely the way to go.

I picked this up as a starter set for my brother, but had to try it for myself first. The stand is very sturdy and great to hang your brush on to help the badger hair dry. The brush, although on the smaller side, works very well with good back bone and will fit just fine in the openings of all the soaps out there that I've used. The razor is of good quality, although it is a milder shaver than most my other razors. It still does great removing the stubble with a sharp blade. I have no regrets in picking this up and the price is very good compared to what else is out there currently.
